Source Story
Humble beginnings in Bellevue, WA
Spencer Stacey opened Connect Source. His Perth-based family business started with a hands-on team of five serving the local area.
Providing game-changing solutions to overcome your challenges has long been a priority for Connect Source. Since our early days as an electrical manufacturing and assembly business, we’ve been evolving and diversifying to meet our customers’ changing needs.
Spencer Stacey opened Connect Source. His Perth-based family business started with a hands-on team of five serving the local area.
As our reputation for quality and service grew, so did our customer base. We moved to larger premises in Midvale to meet demand for our electrical boards, wiring harnesses and other items.
Spencer welcomed his son-in-law, Murray Johnson, to the Connect Source team to focus on strengthening customer relationships. As Murray learnt more about the business, he explored new services to better serve our customers.
Having tripled in size, we were impacted by the GFC and subsequent mining industry crash that led to a state-wide downturn. We persevered and adopted strategies to effectively sustain the business. With a smaller team, we focused on supporting our key customers.
When Spencer retired, Murray bought Connect Source and stepped up to run the business. He went on to establish our first OEM relationships and partnerships, many of which have lasted decades. He developed our engineering capabilities and created a more diverse range of services.
As businesses bounced back, our enduring customer relationships boosted our growth. We increased our team to 15 people and moved to our current location in Midvale.
After 15+ years running telematics, telecommunications and tech companies, Mike Wishart joined Connect Source as CEO. Mike brought a wealth of technological knowledge plus sales and customer relationship experience into the business.
Connect Source acquired the distribution rights for a major safety-focused tech product, Guardian by Seeing Machines. Mike and Murray further expanded our services to establish the sales and support arms of the business.
Having sold over 3,000 Guardian devices, we recognised a need to support our growing number of customers, partners and distribution agents on Australia’s east coast. We grew our team and opened a satellite office in Melbourne.
With the aim of helping our customers achieve new outcomes from existing data, we launched our custom-built data aggregation and insights solution, Momentum.
We also created our unique Development Journey framework as a pathway for businesses to bring new technologies to market.
